Interest & Engagement

My primary interest in the performing arts lies in theatrical production. I have always been drawn to live performances, having grown up in such close proximity to Cleveland and Playhouse Square, I was able to explore different mediums of live performance and found my place in theatre.

While in high school, I was introduced to the world of technical theatre, and my life changed forever. During my time in the MLS Theatre Troupe, I took it upon myself to learn as much as possible. Within my four years, I was chosen to be a crewhead for House, Programs and Publicity for almost every show, while being elected to hold council positions my junior and senior year. Due to my dedication to the company, I was able to obtain a membership into the International Thespian Society and I hold a National Honor Thespian ranking and chosen as "Best Thespian" by my director, Valerie Farschman, at the completion of my senior year.

I have been lucky enough to receive professional opportunities to showcase my skills and learn more about the industry. Thanks to my colleagues, family and friends, I have been granted to chance to work in a professional setting at Stocker Arts Center and the Lorain Palace Theatre. Through these experiences, I have been able to further brand myself as a "Technical Director in Training" and work on a variety of productions.

Throughout my university career, I have made an attempt to learn as much as possible and use

this time to gain experience in a real world setting. I was fortunate enough to receive an offer

for a Development Associate position to learn about grant writing, fundraiser and donor

relations. This year, I have decided to take my skills and knowledge abroad to

Aotearoa New Zealand, where I have worked with TAHI Festival as their Sustainability

Coordinator and Festival Intern. I have been able to assist with creating a framework

through writing various policies, assisting in improving their sustainable efforts

and learning about the production side of what it takes to put on a festival.
